The big Storm

So I get home from work just in time to witness a huge storm...

The power went out four times, and we had some minor flooding going on... nothing like Amanda's house last year, but it is not normal for us to see a river running down the road.

So, after the storm, me and the kids decided to go swimming... the water was really refreshing as it was really muggy outside

And Sarah learned a new trick... I will post an extended video on her later on Friday... But here is her first jump (kinda) ever off the diving board...

Tom's Birthday

So Tom just had his birthday. I, as usual, made him a cake...
IT was yellow cake, 3 layers... one layer had chocolate chips, one layer had butter scotch chips, and it had vanilla icing separating the layers.

Tom wanted Mac & Cheese & Hot Dogs for dinner, so I abliged him.
After dinner, He wanted to do some swimming, and being his birthday I couldnt say no...

Then he wanted to play some Wiffle ball... but got his butt stuck in the bucket of balls.

Man in the Clouds?

Took these pictures the other day... do you see the man in the clouds?

Lighting of the Pool

So, we finally got our light installed in the pool, and wouldnt you know it, its been too damn cold to swim at night... :(

But thought I would show how she looks all lit up...

Guess I need some liquid courage... perhaps this weekend me and the kids will get some night time swimming in...

Life explained

On the first day, God created the dog and said:
'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or
walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'
The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years
and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:
'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you
a twenty-year life span.'
The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long
time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:
'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under
the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For
this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'
The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty
years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said:
'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you
twenty years.'

But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty,
the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten
the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy
ourselves.
For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our
family.
For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the
grandchildren.
And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and
bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information.

Detroit Tigers Baseball Game

So I went to my first sporting event ever. Our Cub Scout pack went to see the detroit Tigers play at Comerica Park... and what a game it was. They won!!!

Pay attention, Tigers are gonna score...

Everybody sing.... give us some peanuts and cracker jacks, I dont know ......

Being that it was a family function for the cub scout pack, Alysha got to see her friend Sarah.

More swimming photo's... they do like the pool..

Thought I would share some more swimming pictures with everyone...

Here are the kids being goofy, notice all of their eyes are closed... had them lookin right at the sun... ooops... sorry guys...

Thought this picture was cool... they are both jumping... and I am not sure why tom is...

Damn delay on my camera, its so hard to catch them in the air.

Baxter likes to hide in the shade during swimming time... He is not a fan of the pool...

Sarah is learning to swim... she does pretty good underwater, but still workin on above the water.

Alysha's final 2008 Band Concert

For their final concert, Alysha's band played in the High school auditorium.

Her Grandma and Grandpa were able to attend, which was a nice treat for Alysha. Here are a couple pictures... We are sitting lower than the band, so you cant see Alysha till the "bow" at the end...

Alysha's Jazz Concert

This concert was per the request of their band instructor as he is very proud of both the size and dedication of this years Jazz Band.

Jazz Band is 100% voluntary, the kids show up every Tuesday and Thursday for a special practice.
So this year, the instructor invited some professional Jazz musicians to play with the jazz group. it made for a wonderful concert.
